So as you can see, I’ve created another sticker slap and I have to say I’m enjoying making sticker slaps more than my mini doodles. And I think I’m going to stick with them for the foreseeable future. Doodling on labels reminded me why I started drawing in the first place: TO DOODLE! And I haven’t been doing much raw doodling since starting my mini doodles project. Yes I draw doodles on my mini doodles but I feel that a lot more goes into planning the scene to host the doodles, and all the different elements that does along with those scenes, rather than the actual doodles themselves. Meanwhile the smaller real estate of the label has forced me to focus on one main element of the doodle versus the full picture. For example, drawing a character sitting on a chair versus everything else you find in a room with a chair like a desk, bookcase, etc. I just wanted to create doodles that were more unique than the doodle collages that are typical, but I ended up making things more complicated.
Also, although I still really love the look of black and white doodles, I find color just brings life to them in a way black and white can’t and I want to explore that more. I’m in an interesting spot right now with my doodle art and I don’t know what’s going to happen but the good news is that I’m still very much into making doodles.
Stay tuned.
