I had a vision of a Dood playing in one of those plastic swimming pools, except the swimming pool is filled with doodles. I manage to accomplish the vision but overall I wasn’t happy with the result. The hand reaching for the chocolate bar was hell to draw and as usual I struggled to fill the space between the doodles.
I think the reason I don’t like this doodle as much is because it fell far short of what I envisioned. I should be used to this by now. Most of my doodles never turn out exactly how I see them in my mind, but I can usually achieve about 70% of what I see. With this doodle, I think I achieved about 50%.
But there is one silver lining from this drawing – the doodles themselves. I was pleased with the way they turned out and I think I did a good job with the finelining. My lines were largely neat and not shaky like in previous drawings. This is why I love Posca pens for finelining!
